【オーストラリア】オーグルビーハイスクールより - M.H -
タスマニアに来て1ヶ月が過ぎました。美しい自然と動物たちに囲まれながら楽しく充実した毎日を送っています。こちらに着いてすぐ冬休みがあり、冬休み中はホストファミリーと旅行に行きました。タスマニアで有名な観光名所である、チョコレート工場、チーズ工場、BlowWholeという湖、Tasmaziaというハリー・ポッターに出てくるような大きな迷路で遊べる場所、フェリーでMONAという一風変わった博物館に行ったりしました。
真面目で明るくグルメな家族です。イタリア料理専門店に連れてってもらい、様々な種類のパスタやオリーヴがあることを知りました。こちらに着いた日の晩、刺身の作り方を教えてほしいとリクエストがあったのでお寿司屋さんの職人を真似てマグロのにぎりを作ってみました。ホストファザーはイギリス人でツアーガイドをしていたこともあり雑学に詳しいです。タスマニアについて沢山の話をしてくれるので、興味深く楽しいです。ホストマザーは看護師さんでフィリピン出身なのでタガログ語が話せます。真面目で優しいです。ホストシスターは1つ年下なのですが、凄くしっかりしています。私のことを大切に思ってくれていて、今では兄妹みたいに仲がいいです。
学校は友達も沢山でき、とても楽しいです。どの先生も私を留学生としてではなく、1人の生徒として見てくれているのが嬉しいです。女子校ですが、公立なので生徒も様々です。私は英語、数学、理科、美術、体育/保健、家庭科の授業を受けています。
こちらの授業は映画を見てその感想を分かち合ったりレポートに書いたりすることが多いです。
こういう授業を受けることで、私たち高校生が様々な考え方を持てる人間に成長出来るのではないかと思いました。このような体験ができ嬉しいです。次はどんな授業なのだろうと毎回楽しみでワクワクしています。

One month has passed since I came here. I'm having fun and a worthwhile time filled with beautiful nature and lots of animals. As soon as I came here, winter vacation started. During winter vacation I went on a trip with my host family. We travelled to many famous places in Tasmania: Anvers chocolate factory, Ashgrove cheese factory, the beach called Blowhole in Bicheno, Tasmazia, which is a huge maze that looks like the one in Harry Potter, and an unexpected museum called MONA. We went to MONA by ferry and it was great.
Everyone in my host family are legitimate and spirited gourmets. I learnt that there are so many kinds of pastas and olives by going to a lot of Italian shops. The night I arrived here my host family asked me to make some sashimi so I imitated how sushi chefs make them.
My host father is British. He used to work as a tour guide so he knows a lot about Tasmania. He always talks to me about Tasmania and I really like the time I spend with him because it's very fun and valuable. My host mother is a nurse. She's from Philippines so she can speak Tagalog. She's very nice and kind. Christina, my host sister, is one year younger than I, but she's a reliable person. She's really sweet and now we're like real sisters!
I wake up at 6:00 every morning and leave the house at 8:00. Then I walk for about 20 minutes to school. I get back home at about 4:00, take a shower around 5:00, and finish eating dinner at about 7:00. Finally I go to bed around 10:00. It's a healthy lifestyle.
At Ogilvie I have made many friends and I'm having a wonderful time. Every teacher treats me as a normal student, not as an exchange student, which makes me happy.
I'm taking math, science, English, Japanese, cooking, art, and P.E/health study now.
In many of the classes we watch movies then have a discussion or write a report about what we think after watching a movie. Through these classes I think that students can learn different ways of thinking and gain a wider view of the world. I'm very glad for these experiences and look forward to every day.
