Visits From Our Partners in New Zealand
We were honored to have our good friends and partners from both Shirley Boys' High School and Avonside Girls' High School come and visit us.
On September 26th, Principal Tim Grocott, Lara Grocott and International Director Leanne Russ of Shirley Boys' High School took time out of their busy schedules to meet with Principal Yoshida and Global Education Chief Ip to discuss the two schools' current situations as well as their relationship going forward. Later our guests were able to chat with the Mejiro boys who studied at Shirley Boys and take a tour of Mejiro.
On October 3rd, International Department Manager Lisa Garrett of Avonside Girls' High School and International Director Leanne Russ of Shirley Boys' High School came to exchange information and share their thoughts on how to improve our international programs. Ms. Garrett was also able to meet up with the Mejiro girls who studied at Avonside and take a photo with them.
Established in 1957, Shirley Boys' High School is a secondary school educating young men in Christchurch. Mejiro first started sending their students to Shirley Boys in the 2019 school year, but the program was suspended for the next two years due to COVID. The program was reestablished in 2022, and since then Mejiro has sent nine of their boys to study in Christchurch. Avonside Girls' High School has been providing quality education to young women in Christchurch for over 90 years. Mejiro has been sending their girls there since 2022. Since then, Mejiro has sent nine girls to study at Avonside.
