SEC高2 ニュージーランドターム留学レポート⑨
留学も残り約10日となりました。 最初は友達作りに苦戦しましたが、授業で同じクラスになった現地の子と仲良くなり、そのうちの何人かとシティに遊びに行くことができました。一緒にフォトブースで写真を撮ったり、店を見て回ったりしてとても楽しかったです。私の友達のうち何人かは日本のアニメを見ていると言っていました。NZでは、日本のアニメを見ている生徒が多く、バッグにグッズをつけている生徒もよく見かけます。日本のアニメがいろんな国の人に広まっていたので驚きました。私もアニメが好きなので、英語でアニメの話ができてとても嬉しかったです。 普段の授業では、選択科目でビジュアルアート、体育、日本語などを受けています。選択科目の美術と日本語の授業は日本では受けていないので、授業の内容が新鮮に感じました。例えば、美術の授業ではまず一人の画家の技法や画風を模写します。そして画家について調べ、その技法を取り入れて新しい絵を自分で描いたりします。日本語の授業では新しい単語や文法を学んだり、ペアを組んで日本語(日本人同士の場合は英語)で会話したりします。この授業では、日本人の生徒が他の生徒にわからないところを教えたりするので、色々な興味関心を持った子と話せて楽しいです。
家では、最初の二週間はベトナム人の女の子と一緒にホームステイをして、現在はブラジル人の女の子とホームステイをしています。夕飯ではホストマザーと一緒に自分の国の学校事情や食文化、生活習慣を教えあったりします。知らない文化に驚いたり、新しい生活習慣を知ることができるのでとても面白いです。 もうすぐホストファミリーや友達、先生に会えなくなるのは寂しいですが、残りの時間も楽しく過ごして行きたいです。
I have about ten days left before I go back to Japan. When school started, I couldn't make many new friends. However, I made friends who are taking the same Japanese class as me. I went to hang out with some of my friends in the city. We took photos and looked around cute shops. It was really exciting. Some friends said they are watching Japanese anime. In New Zealand, many students are watching anime and I sometimes see students who have anime goods on their bags. I was surprised that Japanese anime is popular with many students from different countries. I like anime too, so I was happy that I could talk about anime in English. In school, I take three subjects. I chose P.E., Visual art and Japanese. In Japan, I didn't select art and I don't have any Japanese language class, so these classes are interesting for me. For example, in the visual art class, we learn about one artist's drawing techniques. Then, we draw our own pictures using the artist's techniques. In the Japanese class, we learn Japanese words and grammar. We also speak in pairs and talk in Japanese (If the pairs are both Japanese, they will speak in English). In this class, sometimes Japanese students teach other students and answer their questions, so I have a chance to talk with many people and it is fun.
In my home, I spent the first two weeks with a girl from Vietnam, and now I'm doing the home stay with a girl from Brazil. So we talked about our own cultures and daily life during dinner with our host mother. Learning new cultures makes me surprised and feel interested. I feel sad that I will soon not be able to meet my host family, friends and teacher, but I want to enjoy the last ten days. (SEC S2 K.H.)
