SEC高2 ニュージーランドターム留学レポート⑪
ニュージーランドでの留学生活も、気がつけば残りわずかとなりました。時間が経つのが本当に早く感じます。今は「もっとここにいたい」と思う気持ちでいっぱいです。 ニュージーランドに来てからの毎日はずっと楽しく、その理由はホストファミリーと学校の友達のおかげだと強く感じています。ホストファミリーはマレーシア出身で、食事ではマレー料理をよく作ってくれます。日本とは違うスパイスや味付けで全く知らない料理が出てきたりして最初は緊張しましたが、どれもとっても美味しくて、今では好きな料理は何かと聞かれたらマレー料理と答えると思います。ホストファミリーは手でご飯を食べるので見よう見まねに私も手で食べてみたらみんなとても喜んでくれました。今ではその文化の違いも含めて毎日の食事が楽しみになっています。食を通して文化を知るという体験は、とても新鮮でした。
学校生活では、サモア、フィリピン、中国、サウジアラビア、インドなど、とても多様な国々から来た友達がたくさんできました。それぞれ異なる文化や価値観を持っているけれど、お互いを尊重し合いながら自然に関わっている雰囲気があって、とても温かい環境です。最近では放課後に現地の友達とシティへ出かけたり、ビリヤードをしたり、ショッピングモールに行ったりしています。この約2ヶ月でとても友達も増え、また仲良くなれたので離れるのが本当に寂しいです。 また、カルチャーフェスティバルでは、さまざまな国の食べ物やダンスを見ることができました。一つの学校の中にこれほど多様な文化が集まっていることに感動し、ニュージーランドの多文化性を改めて実感しました。
この留学を通して、言語だけでなく文化や価値観の違いを実際に体験できたことは、自分にとって大きな学びになっています。残りの時間も、一日一日を大切に過ごしたいです。
My study abroad life in New Zealand is already coming to an end. Time goes really fast. Now I feel like I want to stay here more. Since I came to NZ, every day was very fun, and I really feel it is because of my host family and my school friends. My host family is from Malaysia, and they often cook Malaysian food. At first I was a bit nervous because there were many kinds of foods with different spices and things I never saw before, but everything was very delicious. Now, if someone asks me my favorite food, I think I will say Malaysian food. My host family eats with their hands, so I also tried to eat with my hands like them, and they were very happy. Now I really enjoy every mealtime because I can feel different cultures. Eating different food is a very new and interesting experience for me.
In my school life, I made many friends from very different countries like Samoa, Philippines, China, Saudi Arabia, and India. Even though everyone has different culture and values, we respect each other and we naturally get along, and it is a very warm environment. These days, after school I often go to the city with local friends, play billiards, or go to shopping malls. In these about 2 months, I made many friends and got really close with them, so I feel very sad to leave them. Also, in the culture festival, I could see many kinds of food and dances from different countries. I was really impressed that so many cultures are in one school, and I strongly felt the multiculturalism of New Zealand.
Through this study abroad, I learned not only English but also different cultures and values in real life. I want to spend every remaining day meaningfully. (SEC S2 A.Y.)
