My Life in Tokyo So Far - Ophir B. -
・My Life in Tokyo So Far
So far, my trip had surpassed my expectations. In the beginning, everything seemed bizarre, and I was curious to learn more about the people and culture within such a fascinating place. The longer I stay here, the more I learn and the more I am interested.
My life here has simply been great. The school has been different from home. However, the teachers have all been incredibly kind and supportive, and the students have been sweet and inviting. I am so glad I came to this country and school. School is lively and I've made so many friends which I will hopefully stay in touch with even after I leave.
The Japanese language is beautiful, the sounds and characters are interesting. At first, it was difficult to communicate and understand the people around me but with the help of Japanese class, Google Translate, and English teachers, I have been able to understand much more. Everyone has encouraged me and taught me so much.
My home life is different from Canada in terms of size and food choices but the sense of community is very much the same. Everyone in my family is kind and helpful, they always ask about my day and take me on great trips. The food my host mother makes is delicious and I am always grateful to her for taking such great care of me. My family here have educated me on countless Japanese customs which I otherwise would not have understood and shown me a local perspective into Japanese life which I would not otherwise be able to have.
Travelling around Tokyo with friends, family, teachers, and alone has been an amazing experience. Japan is a beautiful country, and I feel very lucky to be able to stay here. Unfortunately, my trip is quickly coming to an end which is disappointing. I know that when I leave Japan, I will miss it immensely. But because of this incredible experience, I am sure that I will visit again soon.
