【アメリカ】グラフトンハイスクールより - Y.T -
今学期からは吹っ切れたようにだいぶ楽になりました。特に外出できる機会はありませんでした。12月にコロナのワクチン1回目を接種した時に気持ち悪くなり1日休んでしまった以外は元気にしていました。
日本ではクリスマスの時期はお店が書入れ時で繫盛していますが、アメリカはその逆、お店は閉まり、出歩いている人もほとんどおらず、夜のイルミネーションでしか見かけませんでした。文化が違うとここまでも違うのかと驚きました。1月2日から始まり、お正月という概念があまりない、日本ならではなのだと実感しました。
2回目のワクチン接種は病院ではなく、集団接種で受けました。驚くことにずーっと小さい子供が嫌だと泣き叫んでいたのですが、押さえつけて無理矢理打つということをしていませんでした。 アメリカだと虐待になってしまうからなのか、日本では見ないなと少し感心してしまいました。どんなに小さい子供でも主張は聞いてもらえるのはアメリカのいいところなのかもしれません。
今年は昨年よりも雪が降ったそうです。1日休みに、1日リモートになりました。希望としては、第3タームは休みが1日しかないのでまわして欲しかったです。
大変で早くもめげそうですが、受験はあまり視野に入れないで過ごしています。余計に追い込まれるだけなので。気が向いたら、余裕ができたときに少しずつ取り組みます。

This term has become much easier, as if my worries had been blown away. I did not have a chance to go out. I have been fine except for the time I felt sick from taking my first corona vaccination in December and took a day off.
In Japan, the shops are full at the time of Christmas, but on the contrary, in the United States, the shops are closed with few people are walking around. The only thing that I can see at night are the illuminations. I was surprised that different cultures would be so different. With school starting from January 2nd, there is not much concept of New Year here, which made me realize that it is unique to Japan.
The second vaccination was not at a hospital, but at a mass vaccination site. I was surprised to see a little child, who did not want to get a shot, crying, but the nurse and parent did not hold the child down and force the child to get the shot. Maybe it was abusive to do so in America, but I was a little impressed because I don't see that in Japan. It may be a good thing in America that no matter how small a child is, the claim would be heard.
This year had more snow than last year. Because of that, for every day off from school, there was one remote day. Since the third term has only one day off, I was hoping that some of those off days would be moved to the third term.
Entrance exams are tough and discouraging, so I have not really thought about taking them yet. It only adds more pressure. When I feel like it, I will study for them little by little when I can afford it.
