Between the time I arrived and the start of school, I was taken to various places, including a church, a large shopping mall, a movie theater, and a sushi restaurant. I was very worried at first because I was the only Japanese student and everyone else could speak English; however, once classes began, I found friends who would patiently listen even when I couldn't speak English well, and some even went out of their way to use translation tools to communicate with me in Japanese, something I'm truly grateful for. Initially, I felt nervous just trying to do things and can now clearly communicate what I need to say in advance. So much happens every day that I'm really glad I'm able to get plenty of sleep.
