During my time in Japan I've discovered many differences with the school life and culture compared to Australian lifestyle. For one, the public transport is significantly more efficient and reliable in Japan, although the tight squeeze every morning can become irritating. The food is outstanding and will probably be one of the reasons I return to Japan for a second trip. Spending Christmas and New Years here was also quite different as celebrating Christmas was minimal and New Years seemed to be the bigger occasion with New Years cards, money, the shrine visit and of course the traditional mochi that holds a questionable texture. From shopping, making new friends and seeing snow for the first time to cleaning the classrooms everyday and enduring the bore of self-study, my stay in Japan has been more than I could imagine. I've enjoyed every bit of it and I plan to visit again to improve my Japanese and potentially live in this wonderful country. Until then, thank you Japan!
